I’ve been looking forward to Christie and Garrett’s Montgomery Club wedding since their Riverwalk engagement session earlier this year. We got a lot done during the engagement session, but their wedding day was even more action-packed. It totally flew by!
The morning started with Christie and the ladies getting ready at Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza River North. Justin started the morning with Garrett and the guys at Godfrey Hotel.
Once they were dressed, Garrett and the guys spent the morning running errands in the rain and grabbing a drink at the hotel bar. We were up against some intermittent drizzle and cold weather so finding a little sheltered area near the hotel provided a perfect first look location and spot for family group photos. After that we stole Christie & Garrett for a few more portraits around the newly expanded riverwalk area. It was my first time in the particular spot and I’ll definitely be going back. From there, we loaded the wedding party in to the limo and headed over to Union Station for a few more portraits.
From there it was on to The Montgomery Club and it’s classically-elegant main dining space. The ceremony was really sweet with some funny moments. While the room was being flipped we moved next door for a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Chinese tea culture is really beautiful, I love the formality and respect.
The reception kicked off with introductions and a beautifully choreographed first dance by Christie & Garrett before dinner. After toasts and parent dances it was time for the party. I think this might have been the most colorful dance floor we’ve had. Not only were the guests totally animated, the color in the uplighting made things look awesome.
Justin and I had a great time with Christie and Garrett all day and loved shooting our first Montgomery Club wedding. Thanks so much for letting us to tell your wedding story!
