Catherine and Chris’ Winter wedding at Oak Brook Bath and Tennis Club was a great way to start my 2019 wedding season. It’s been a while since I shot at Oak Brook Bath and Tennis Club and it was great to get back out there. They’ve made some nice changes to the interior and it’s a total hidden gem that I don’t think a lot of people know about.
I started off the morning with Catherine and her mom and sister at Le Meridien in Oakbrook Center where the ladies did hair & makeup. After Catherine was ready we headed over to the venue to meet Chris and my second shooter, Justin Edmonds. We did a first look on the patio and I loved the perfect reaction with Chris’ arms and Catherine dropping the dress at just the right time.
We had enough time for a good variety of portraits and luckily it wasn’t so cold that we could still shoot a little bit outside.
The ceremony started at dusk and it made the space feel even more intimate and romantic, especially with the fireplace and candle backdrop. Dave, The Wedding Rev. kept things light and entertaining – the guests definitely enjoyed it.
During cocktail hour, we set up a back lit portrait that worked great with the snow coming down. Catherine and Chris were such troopers heading back out into the snow and cold once more!
The reception opened with a toast by Catherine’s father and first dances. We were able to make some interesting first dance photos through the fireplace and with candles in the foreground. We wrapped up with a nice little dance party that went past Quinn and Mile’s (flower girl and ring bearer) bedtime, but they didn’t care!
Justin and I had great time with Catherine and Chris and their families. Thank you both for letting me document your day!
