Kara and Matt were married at Architectural Artifacts in Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood. It’s a venue that’s been on my radar for a while, since I love loft spaces and it’s only a few blocks from my home! So I was super excited to be working with Kara and Matt to make Architectural Artifacts wedding photos.
Both Kara and Matt started their morning a The Gwen Hotel downtown. I photographed the ladies getting ready while Justin was with the guys.
We did a first look near the Chicago River between Trump Tower and the Wrigley building. I’m not sure if this spot has a name but it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite spots in the area. We did a little more portraiture around the riverwalk before heading to Olive Park with the wedding party. Olive Park has a nice mix of trees and skyline views so you can’t go wrong Olive Park wedding portraits. Then we headed north to the venue for a few more portraits. We probably could have shot portraits in the Architectural Artifacts space all day, but we did have a ceremony and reception.
The outdoor courtyard ceremony was beautiful – truly a gorgeous space. After the ceremony and the formal family photos, we moved inside for toasts and dinner. Kara’s dad and sister had everyone laughing.
After dinner, we moved to the dance floor for Kara and Matt’s first dance and a dance with Kara and her dad. Matt slipped into some comfortable shoes and danced the night away. We always love seeing grooms who dance!
